Cancer
Cancer insurance specifically focuses on providing financial protection in the event of a cancer diagnosis. It is designed to help cover the costs associated with cancer treatment and related expenses that may not be fully covered by regular health insurance.
Plan Highlights
Coverage: the MetLife Cancer insurance policy pays a lump sum benefit upon the diagnosis of cancer. The lump sum can be used at the policyholder's discretion to cover medical expenses, such as surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and medications. It can also help with non-medical expenses like transportation, home modifications, and loss of income during treatment.
Recurrence Benefit: The policy includes a Recurrence Benefit that will pay a percentage of the Initial Benefit upon a second diagnosis of the same covered condition which MetLife has already paid a benefit. Excluding Skin cancer.
Wellness Benefit: The cancer policy will pay a $75 wellness benefit once per calendar year, per covered person, for completing one of the eligible health screening exams. Call MetLife at (800) 438-6388 or sign-in to your MyBenefits account to file your wellness claim.
This plan is portable allowing you to keep the coverage upon separation of service from KISD.
